Our Story

Jose Luis Cancino migrated from Mexico City, Mexico, to the United States in search of opportunities. He knew he wanted to help others and pursued a career in casino guest services.

He began creating welcoming guest experiences 25 years ago at El Dorado Casino in Reno, Nevada, where he dedicated his time as a Guest Services Manager. He also helped organize the “Italian Festival” every October from 1998 to 2016 in Reno, Nevada.

Jose received the “Hispanic Adelante Award” 20 years ago while working at El Dorado Casino.

For several years, Jose worked two full-time jobs, including a management role in Guest Services at Carson Valley Inn Casino.

As of April 2024, Jose has taken a new direction into the restaurant and food service industry while continuing his passion for guest service management. He has been learning and sharing experiences with Maria C. Reyes, owner of La Jefa’s Mexican Food Restaurant. Maria welcomed Jose to assist with restaurant hosting and catering events, including weddings, birthdays, rodeos, and city and state events serving up to 200 people.

Jose enjoys the difference between providing guest services behind the counter and delivering a memorable guest experience directly on the floor.
